Tesla Tinting Specialists — Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X
We use precision-cut templates designed specifically for each Tesla model, including the large glass roof panels unique to Tesla vehicles.
Tesla's panoramic glass roofs allow significant heat and UV into the cabin. Ceramic tint on the roof glass dramatically reduces heat buildup.
3M ceramic films contain zero metals, so they won't interfere with Tesla's Autopilot cameras, GPS, Bluetooth, cellular, or key card systems.
Reducing cabin heat means less A/C load on the battery. Tinted Teslas in Calgary summers can see measurably improved range efficiency.
Teslas are designed with massive glass surfaces. The Model 3 and Model Y both feature a single-piece glass roof that extends from the windshield header to behind the rear seats. The Model S and Model X have similar expansive glass. While Tesla applies a factory UV coating to their glass, it does not reject significant infrared heat — and that’s where aftermarket ceramic tint makes a measurable difference.
In Calgary, where summer temperatures regularly hit 30°C+ and the high altitude (1,045m) intensifies solar radiation, an untinted Tesla cabin can reach interior temperatures exceeding 60°C when parked in direct sun. The A/C system works overtime to compensate, drawing significant energy from the battery. Ceramic window tint reduces solar heat gain by up to 60%, which directly translates to less A/C demand and better range efficiency.
| Tesla Model | Side + Rear | Glass Roof | Windshield | Our Pick |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Model 3 | Essential | Highly recommended | Optional | Ceramic IR full + roof |
| Model Y | Essential | Highly recommended | Optional | Ceramic IR full + roof |
| Model S | Essential | Recommended | Optional | Crystalline full vehicle |
| Model X | Essential | Highly recommended | Optional | Crystalline full + windshield |
The Model X’s falcon wing doors and massive windshield make it the most tint-critical Tesla. The Model 3 and Model Y are our highest-volume Tesla tints due to their popularity in Calgary.
Autopilot cameras — Tesla vehicles have forward-facing cameras behind the windshield and side cameras in the B-pillars. Metallic window films can interfere with these systems. 3M ceramic and Crystalline films are completely non-metallic and have zero effect on Autopilot, cameras, or sensors. We have installed tint on hundreds of Teslas with no sensor issues.
Glass roof options — Tesla’s glass roof already has some UV coating from the factory, but it lacks meaningful IR (heat) rejection. Adding 3M Ceramic IR or Crystalline to the roof glass blocks up to 95–97% of infrared heat, making a dramatic difference on hot days. We can tint the roof in a single piece or in sections depending on the model.
Shade selection — Many Tesla owners prefer a lighter shade on the sides (35–50% VLT) to complement the vehicle’s modern design, with a medium shade (20–35%) on the rear. For the glass roof, we typically recommend a 50–70% VLT ceramic film — dark enough to reduce heat meaningfully but light enough to preserve the airy, open feel of the roof.
Key card and phone key — 3M non-metallic films do not affect Tesla’s phone key Bluetooth connection or NFC key card functionality. This is a common concern we hear, and we can confirm from thousands of installs that there is zero interference.
