SUV Tinting — Full Coverage for Calgary's Most Popular Vehicles
SUVs have 30–50% more glass surface area than sedans. That means significantly more solar heat and UV entering the cabin without tint.
Passengers in the second and third rows sit directly beside untinted glass. Tinting all rear windows protects every passenger from UV and heat.
SUV cargo areas are fully visible through the rear glass. Window tint adds privacy for valuables, groceries, and gear left in the vehicle.
We use precision computer-cut patterns for each specific SUV make, model, and year — including quarter windows, cargo windows, and sunroofs.
SUVs dominate Calgary’s roads for good reason — they handle Alberta winters, fit families and gear, and sit above the traffic. But all that glass means SUVs absorb far more solar energy than sedans. A midsize SUV like a Toyota RAV4 or Ford Explorer has roughly 40% more glass area than a comparable sedan, and full-size SUVs like the Chevrolet Suburban or Ford Expedition have even more.
Window tinting an SUV addresses this directly by rejecting solar heat before it enters the cabin. With 3M Ceramic IR or Crystalline film on all glass surfaces, an SUV’s A/C works less and the cabin stays cooler, even during Calgary’s intense July afternoons.

Most compact and midsize SUVs fall within our standard pricing. Full-size and some luxury SUVs with additional glass panels may require a custom quote due to the extra material and labour involved.
SUV owners often choose slightly darker shades than sedan owners because the elevated seating position and larger glass panels make the interior more visible from outside. Here are the most common configurations we install on SUVs in Calgary:
Most popular: 35% VLT on front windows, 20% VLT on all rear windows. This provides good privacy and heat rejection while maintaining comfortable daytime visibility. The slight shade difference between front and rear looks natural on most SUVs.
Maximum privacy: 35% front, 5% rear. Common on full-size SUVs and luxury vehicles where cargo and passenger privacy is a priority. Note that 5% (limo tint) does reduce nighttime visibility significantly from inside — fine for passengers but the driver relies on mirrors.
Maximum heat rejection: 3M Crystalline on all windows at 50% VLT front, 40% rear. Lighter appearance but blocks up to 97% of infrared heat. Popular on luxury SUVs where owners want performance without a dark look.
Not sure which shade? Visit our shop for a free shade demonstration on your vehicle. We have sample strips you can hold against your glass to see exactly how each VLT level looks. For details on what’s legal, see our Alberta Window Tint Laws page.
