3M™ Crystalline Series — The Premium Choice for Calgary Drivers
Crystalline blocks up to 97% of infrared heat energy while allowing up to 90% of visible light through, keeping you cool without the dark look.
3M’s proprietary multi-layer optical film uses over 200 layers of nano-technology to selectively filter heat-causing infrared light.
Will not interfere with GPS, mobile phones, satellite radio, or tire pressure monitoring systems. No signal disruption whatsoever.
Backed by 3M’s comprehensive manufacturer warranty. As a certified 3M installer, we guarantee the film and the installation.
3M Crystalline is the most technologically advanced automotive window film available today. Unlike conventional dyed or metalized films, Crystalline uses a proprietary multi-layer nano-technology that stacks over 200 individual layers into a film thinner than a sticky note.
Each of those layers is precisely tuned to reject specific wavelengths of infrared radiation — the part of the solar spectrum responsible for heat. The result is a film that blocks up to 97% of infrared energy and up to 60% of total solar energy coming through your windows, while maintaining a virtually clear appearance.
This means you can choose a 90% VLT (visible light transmission) shade that looks nearly invisible on your glass and still get dramatically better heat rejection than a conventional dark 5% dyed film. For drivers who want protection without the dark tinted look, Crystalline is the only option that delivers this combination.
| Shade | VLT | IR Rejection | UV Rejection | TSER |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CR 90 | 90% | 97% | 99.9% | 34% |
| CR 70 | 70% | 97% | 99.9% | 41% |
| CR 60 | 60% | 97% | 99.9% | 46% |
| CR 50 | 50% | 97% | 99.9% | 49% |
| CR 40 | 40% | 97% | 99.9% | 59% |
VLT = Visible Light Transmission (how much light passes through). TSER = Total Solar Energy Rejected (the single best measure of overall heat rejection). IR Rejection = Infrared rejection at 900–1000nm range.
3M offers three automotive window film tiers, and Crystalline sits at the top. Here is how they compare:
3M Colour Stable (Carbon) Series — Uses non-metallic, nano-carbon technology. Provides a consistent dark appearance that will not turn purple over time. Blocks up to 57% of total solar energy and 99% of UV. This is the entry-level choice, best for drivers who want a classic tinted look at an affordable price.
3M Ceramic IR Series — Uses ceramic nano-particle technology with enhanced infrared rejection. Blocks up to 66% of total solar energy and up to 95% of infrared heat. This is the mid-tier option, offering meaningfully better heat rejection than Colour Stable at a moderate price increase.
3M Crystalline Series — The flagship. Uses proprietary 200+ layer nano-technology that achieves up to 97% infrared rejection and 60% total solar energy rejection in the darkest shade. Available in very light tints (90% VLT) that are virtually invisible, making it the only film that can deliver serious heat rejection without changing the appearance of your windows. Best for luxury vehicles, Tesla owners, and anyone who wants maximum protection with a factory-glass look.
